Strands Unlimited: original word puzzles, as many as you want

70 original themed boards written by us — free, no login, and a new one the moment you finish. These are our puzzles, not New York Times puzzles.

What you are playing

Every board on this page is original. We write the theme and pick the words, then each of the 70 boards is checked to fill all 48 letters exactly once and to have a single valid solution before it goes live. Same rules you already know: find the theme words, find the spangram that stretches from one side of the grid to the other, use every letter.

No daily limit

Solve one, get another. Nothing resets at midnight.

Strands Unlimited questions

Are these the New York Times Strands puzzles?
No. Every puzzle on this page is an original themed word puzzle written by us — our own themes, our own words, our own spangrams. They are not NYT Strands boards and are not affiliated with The New York Times. If you are looking for a past NYT Strands puzzle, use our archive instead.
How many puzzles can I play?
As many as you like. There are 70 original boards right now and we add more; when you finish one, "Next puzzle" serves another straight away. No daily limit, no waiting for midnight.
Do I need an account or a subscription?
No. It is free, there is no login, and nothing is paywalled. Your progress is remembered in your own browser.
Do these puzzles have spangrams?
Yes. Every board has one spangram — a word or phrase that names the theme and stretches from one side of the grid to the opposite side — plus theme words that fill every remaining letter. Every board is verified to have exactly one solution before it is published.
How is this different from the daily puzzle?
The daily is one puzzle a day. This page is practice: original boards, as many as you want, whenever you want. Same rules, same 6x8 grid, same spangram mechanic.
